New type of chickens might halt bird flu spread

British scientists are working to develop a new line of chickens resistant to avian and other flu viruses, a development that could remove a "reservoir" of the virus and ease the threat of a human flu pandemic. The scientists already have demonstrated chicken cells can be protected against flu by inserting small bits of genetic material.
