NYC hears public comments, industry concerns over trans fat ban

New York City held a public hearing on proposals to ban most artificial trans fat in restaurants and to visibly post calorie counts Monday. The city's Board of Health said it will vote on the proposals in December. Restaurant representatives voiced concerns, and the National Restaurant Association said that finding more healthful, sustainable alternative oils should be a priority rather than rushing to replace trans fats with saturated fats.
