A start-up company is marketing a water-repelling molecule to building contractors, who like the product because it cuts costs, time and hassles out of the construction process. When added to concrete, Hycrete keeps the material from absorbing water, allowing contractors to dispense with plastic membranes. Not using the membranes makes the building greener, allowing the contractor to score LEED points. The material can also be added to roofing materials and wallboard.
