Asian markets end volatile week mixed

Earlier this week, indexes in Asia soared, but overall they declined in October. After the Bank of Japan lowered its benchmark interest rate, the Nikkei 225 Average plunged 5%, while the broader Topix index lost 3.6%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 inched up 0.4%, Seoul's Kospi gained 2.6% and New Zealand's NZX 50 added 2.1%. Singapore's Straits Times dropped 0.2%, Taiwan's Taiex advanced 4% and India's Sensex had gained 4.7% by midafternoon.
