Study indicates "freshman 15" is a myth

Students gain an average of 2.5 to 3.5 pounds in their first year of college, a far cry from the 15-pound weight gain associated with the freshman year, a study in Social Science Quarterly revealed. Experts said the phrase "freshman 15" may negatively affect students' weight perception, especially among young women.
