SDN startup Big Switch gets $25 million VC boost

Big Switch Networks has drawn a $25 million investment from Redpoint Ventures and Goldman Sachs to fund its push into the software-defined networking market. The company -- which earlier this year released its OpenFlow-based Floodlight controller software -- has raised a total of $39 million in venture capital to date and is seen as a rival to larger SDN players such as Nicira. The new funding will be used to bolster the company's engineering, sales and marketing teams.
