BofA could face civil suit over RMBS, according to filing

Bank of America said in a regulatory filing Wednesday that losses linked to legal fees could amount to $5.1 billion, as a U.S. attorney's office intends to recommend that the Justice Department file a lawsuit against the bank over sales of residential mortgage-backed securities. Also Wednesday, three federal home loan banks and a hedge fund agreed to drop their objections to an $8.5 billion settlement between Bank of America's Countrywide and investors.
