CamFind to offer API for visual search

Visual search application CamFind has reached the million-download milestone and is making its application programming interface available. Incorporating a visual-search backend can be valuable to many apps beyond shopping, from identification of plants on field trips to connecting store signs to reviews, Catherine Shu writes. "State-of-the-art technology for search by computer vision is still only good at recognizing 20% of the objects photographed. We can answer 95 out of 100 images taken, so we're still very far ahead," co-developer Dominik Mazur says.
