Democrats build Senate support for anti-discrimination bill

Senate Democrats are rallying behind legislation that would make it illegal for employers to discriminate against workers based on their gender identity or sexual preferences. If passed, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act would be a major victory for gay-rights activists. Some Republican lawmakers warned that the legislation would leave companies liable for discrimination lawsuits brought by present or former employees.
