Exercise is a prescription for diabetes, experts say

People with diabetes should view exercise as a prescription because it leads to weight loss and better glucose control that can allow them to reduce their need for insulin and other drugs, medical experts say. Dr. Osama Hamdy said strength training to maintain muscle mass also is important because people with diabetes lose muscle faster as they age compared with the general population. He recommends people with diabetes get 300 minutes of exercise per week.
