Halloween treats get an upscale makeover

Candy companies are getting adventurous with new products that feature trendy flavors such as pumpkin and bacon. Target sold out of Pumpkin Spice M&Ms a week before Halloween and Walgreens offers Wild Ophelia chocolate bars with flavor combinations like beef jerky and BBQ chip. "People's palates are changing. Whether in food, confectionery or beverage, they want to be challenged with new flavors," said Paul Minger, category manager for confections at Walgreen Co.
