N.C. district may cut "The Color Purple" from 11th-grade AP curriculum

A North Carolina school board is considering eliminating "The Color Purple" as part of the 11th-grade Advanced Placement English curriculum. Some parents who object to the book say it contains offensive language and inappropriate content. A board member said even if the board decides to remove the book from the curriculum, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel would continue to be available in school libraries.
