Nintendo loses $81M in quarter, hopes for holiday turnaround

Nintendo reported a net loss of $81 million for the quarter ending Sept. 30, putting pressure on the company to move more Wii U consoles and game titles during the holiday shopping season. “Whether we can meet the target we committed to hinges on how year-end business will go,” President Satoru Iwata said. Hideki Yasuda of Ace Research Institute said, “If Nintendo’s software does not sell well in the second half, then it could lead to a management capability issue. The company will have a hard time in this year-end shopping season.”
