Oncologists offer guidelines for integrative care in lung cancer

Integrative care guidelines for lung cancer, issued by the Society of Integrative Oncology, include alternative treatments such as acupuncture and mind-body therapies that may ease the side effects of chemotherapy, radiation and other interventions. Dr. Gary Deng of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City said the evidence-based guidelines are for the medical community at large because many clinicians may not know how to respond when patients ask about therapy options.
