Regulator calls for plan to improve trading technology

Mary Jo White, head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, has asked a group of CEOs to develop a plan to strengthen trading systems after a series of technology glitches. The industry is considering some cooperative solutions, such as a central testing facility and kill switches. However, many say firms should monitor their own technology systems as opposed to having regulators direct the process. White has asked the group to respond with a plan by early November.
