Runnable wants to be the cloud-based hub for app-building

Runnable is helping developers transition from building applications from scratch to assembling them, often from open-source component parts. Its public beta gives developers a central hub for finding the pieces, Michael Carney writes. It currently works with dozens of partners and expects to expand its offering in January to include a full range of application programming interfaces, libraries and software development kits. "We can create a win-win by offering developers a robust catalog of code, while at the same time offering companies a forum to promote their APIs and products," CEO Yash Kumar says.
