Random automated background checks for everyone with a security clearance would be mandatory under a bill introduced in the Senate on Wednesday. The legislation comes in response to the deadly shooting at the Washington Navy Yard in September. "I don't know if this would have prevented the Navy Yard shooting, but I know it would have given us a much better chance," said Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., one of the bill's authors.
