Sprint looks to "Spark" network competition, reveals tri-band handsets

Sprint announced it is leveraging Long-Term Evolution technology in its 800MHz and 1.9GHz bands and Clearwire-acquired 2.5GHz spectrum to deliver speeds of 50-60 Mbps -- eventually reaching a 1Gbps potential -- at peak as part of its new Sprint Spark Network. New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Tampa and Miami will be first cities to experience the network, but Sprint plans to extend its reach to 100 large cities by 2016. In tandem with the Spark network news, Sprint announced a handful of tri-band smartphones that are compatible with the network, including the LG G2, Samsung Galaxy Mega, Samsung Galaxy S 4 mini and HTC One max.
