Study examines impact of premature birth on schooling

Due date and not birth date should be considered for deciding when children who were born prematurely enter school, a former U.K. official said. Research has found that preterm birth is associated with worse performance in school, particularly for infants born in August who attended school a year earlier due to their earlier birth.
