U.K. consumer confidence fades

Poor wage growth and general anxiety over the U.K. economy sent GfK's consumer confidence index to a reading of minus 11 in October, down from the six-year high of minus 10 the previous month and the first drop in six months. The mid-month survey may have been influenced by sharp energy price increases at the time.
