Construction spending in September rises 0.5%

Construction spending on homes, schools and other buildings in the U.S. increased 0.5% in September, rising to an annual rate of $1.12 trillion, according to the Commerce Department. The increase was slightly lower than the 0.6% rise in August, but total construction spending in September reached another all-time high, with most gains seen in private residential construction.
