Efficiency plan for Chicago tower includes roof garden

A rooftop garden on Chicago's Willis Tower is a key part of an effort to reduce the size of the building's carbon footprint. Designed by architect Sara Beardsley, an experimental green roof on the building's 90th floor is aimed at lowering the building's energy bill and cutting water runoff. Current designs call for gardens on the building's multiple roofs as well as solar panels and wind turbines.
