Corio plans major retail center in southern Turkey

Dutch retail developer Corio is building a new shopping center in the Turkish city of Tarsus. Called the "the Tarsu it will house about 100 retailers as well as a six-screen cinema. Chief Operational Officer Francine Zijlstra irked local retailers earlier this year when she said in a news article that Turkish shoppers have to "get used to shopping at shopping centers" while tenants "have to be educated." Announcing this shopping center, she noted that "Turkey has become one of our core markets, it is a country we want to stay in," she said.
