School closures threaten after-school care for students with autism

The planned closure of an elementary school in a socially and economically disadvantaged area of Vancouver, British Columbia, could have a significant impact on students with autism, say parents. The Queen Alexandra school is home to an after-school program for children with autism and other special needs, which would be closed along with the school -- and four others -- because of a budget shortfall.
