U.S. construction spending was up 0.5% in September

Construction spending in the U.S. edged up 0.5% to $801.7 billion in September, led by an increase in residential construction and public works, according to the Commerce Department. Economists predicted construction spending would fall 0.5%. Total construction spending is down 10% the year.
