CMS issues updates on outpatient, ambulatory care payments

Compensation rates for Medicare's outpatient prospective payment system will rise by 1.9%, while payments to ambulatory surgery centers will grow by 1.6%, according to a final set of rules released by the CMS. The agency is also set to launch a pilot program meant to enable more hospitals to participate in Medicare's electronic health record incentive program.
