Autumn is the perfect time to propagate perennials since the weather provides favorable conditions for growth, master gardener Joe Lamp'l writes. Perennials can be multiplied into several plants by cutting and separating their roots, crowns or rhizomes. Nurseries also tend to give discounts on unsold perennials during this time of the year, Lamp'l notes.
