NPs travel to provide emergency cardiac care in Hawaii

Officials at Maui Memorial Medical Center in Hawaii sought the help of Detroit-area nursing educator Mary Anne McCoy to develop an on-site rotation program that includes nurse practitioners who provide collaborative emergency care for heart attack patients. Since the launch of the program, 103 cardiac patients have been treated, with an average time of 23 minutes from arrival to balloon angioplasty.
