Resveratrol pill improves metabolic health in obese men

Obese men who took a dietary supplement with 150 milligrams of purified resveratrol for one month had lower metabolic rates, blood glucose and blood pressure levels and less liver fat content, a small study in Cell Metabolism found. The study suggests that taking resveratrol may help prevent the onset of metabolic syndrome, which raises the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes, researchers said.
