Students with special needs and verbal difficulties in Australia are using iPad tablet computers to help them communicate. The students learn to use the device's voice-output applications to place orders with store vendors, and educators say they also adapt quickly to educational games. "We have children with severe intellectual disabilities flicking across three or four pages and opening and closing programs to find the app they like, even though they have to navigate several layers to get there," Malkara School principal Jennie Lyndsay said.
