U.S. is within a decade of energy independence, analysts say

The U.S. is on track to reach its long-held goal of energy independence within 10 years, analysts said. America imported more than 60% of its oil in 2005 but only 47% last year. Technology has allowed increased oil and natural gas production that previously wasn't economically feasible, experts said.
