Macrosomia risk in gestational diabetes patients reduced by glucose targets

A review in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism found that a fasting glucose target of 90 mg/dL was tied to lower odds of macrosomia and other conditions, including neonatal hypoglycemia and preeclampsia, during the third trimester in gestational diabetes patients. "Future observational research must evaluate the role of obesity in the incidence of fetal maternal outcomes in women with and without gestational diabetes," researchers said.
