Medical tourism industry grows

More Americans are going abroad for cosmetic surgery, lured by lower prices and promises of quality, researchers report in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery-Global Open. Some countries have recruited Western-certified plastic surgeons and have forged formal connections with U.S. universities or doctors. However, many destination countries have less-stringent malpractice laws, leaving patients no legal recourse, the researchers note.
