Medicare SGR repeal would give performance incentives

Medicare reimbursement rates would remain the same for the next 10 years, but providers could earn performance-based bonuses starting in 2016 under a proposed bill to repeal the Sustainable Growth Rate formula. After 2023, doctors who choose to remain in a fee-for-service system would be eligible for 1% annual reimbursement increases, and those who choose an alternative payment system would receive a 2% annual reimbursement increase.
