N.Y.'s Tappan Zee Bridge project on schedule with approval of $1.6B loan

New York is on track to complete work on the nearly $4 billion replacement of the Tappan Zee Bridge now that the U.S. Department of Transportation has approved a $1.6 billion loan. Work on the bridge, which crosses the Hudson River between Rockland and Westchester counties, officially started two weeks ago, and is expected to be completed in 2018. "In terms of our financing scenarios, this was the best," said Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
