PCMA CEO Merritt says HHS view on copay coupons undermines key cost control efforts

PCMA President Mark Merritt said that HHS' stance on insurance plans sold through public exchanges "has the potential to undermine any cost controls in the health insurance exchanges" and would affect premiums, cost-sharing and other aspects of the insurance exchange system. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius recently said in a letter to Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., that health insurance plans sold through exchanges are commercial products that are not subject to anti-kickback laws.
