Marketers Respond To E-Mail Backlash

U.S. consumers increasingly are voicing complaints about too much unsolicited e-mail, and marketers are developing strategies to respond to the trend, including sending e-mail that includes promotions from more than one advertiser. Research firm Jupiter Media Metrix reports that the average consumer receives 1,466 unsolicited e-mail messages a year.
