Microsoft launches ad-supported software service

In an effort to compete with online players Yahoo! and Google, Microsoft has launched two software services called Windows Live and Office Live that allow users to take advantage of Microsoft software online, in some instances for free and without any download. Microsoft expects to support the rollout with advertising on the Windows Live and Office Live Web sites.
