Unexplored peptidome may prove a valuable biomarker asset

Biomarker researchers remain optimistic regarding a previously unexplored reservoir, the peptidome, that could contain valuable early detection information for a variety of diseases. Researchers believe that the peptidome may contain a "'recording' of cellular and extracellular enzymatic events taking place at the level of the diseased tissue microenvironment" that would allow early detection and treatment for various cancers when utilized with biomarkers.
