With Democrats divided, Senate's climate-change bill in doubt

The likelihood of getting a climate-change bill through the U.S. Senate is increasingly being called into question, unless Democrats can persuade a few Republican opponents to support the measure. Democrats are deeply divided because many of them represent states that depend heavily on fossil fuel for energy. With the Obama administration's support, Democrats are offering amendments to accelerate the expansion of nuclear power that they think might bring a half dozen Republicans to their side.
