District turns Election Day into professional-development day

Nashua, N.H., schools were not in session Tuesday because of Election Day, but teachers participated in professional-development workshops and collaborated on teaching strategies. Workshop topics varied by school and grade level, with subjects including new data systems, curriculum development and special-education programs. "It gives them a chance to hear a common message and work together to implement their learning into the classrooms," a district official said.
