The nation's leaders aren't looking at the broad problems with transportation infrastructure, writes Donald C. Fry, president of the Greater Baltimore Committee. Both Maryland and the nation are falling gravely behind in infrastructure investment, he writes. He points to inaction on the $500 billion congressional transportation reauthorization bill and explains why some fear it could be as late as 2013 before that draft is acted on. "When we talk about finding ways to strengthen transportation funding, we're ultimately talking about preserving our quality of life," Fry writes.
