Oregon State University is spearheading a new effort to boost Iraq's engineering infrastructure. Under a five-year deal, the institution will lead staff and student exchanges and other knowledge-sharing programs in a bid to create new sustainable-engineering courses in Iraq's universities. "The nation of Iraq can begin to train their own engineers in sustainable growth and development," said Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski. "And Oregon students and faculty get on-the-ground training, strengthening their base of knowledge, planning and implementation."
