Smart companies are opting out of the talent wars

The "talent wars" are still going strong -- but only because few companies have yet been smart enough to realize that employees' value is contextual, writes Thomas A. Stewart. Rather than fighting to win the best workers for mere bragging rights, focus on what your company actually needs and simply hire people who bring the skills you're currently lacking. "People who think they're in a war for talent should put down the bazooka and, instead, think about what they need or want," Stewart advises.
