Survey: Americans want aging water infrastructure repaired

The vast majority of Americans -- 95%, according to a survey -- place water resources above energy, Internet and cell phone access. ITT, a $3.5 billion water engineering and infrastructure business, reported that most Americans favor government investment in the maintenance and repair of aging water pipes. Water distribution systems let an estimated 1.7 trillion gallons of clean drinking water go to waste each day, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
