Twitter puts ads in user "timelines"

Virgin, Starbucks and Red Bull are among the first marketers to advertise on Twitter's user streams, which are called "timelines." Unlike the microblog's Promoted Tweets, the new ads would be posted in a timeline based on individuals and marketers the user is following, even if the user doesn't follow that particular marketer or use the search function.
