Companies encourage workers to take breaks from desk work

More companies are encouraging employees to take exercise breaks, use standing desks and work out to counter the effects of sitting at a desk all day. JM Smith in Spartanburg, S.C., pays workers quarterly bonuses for regular exercise and encourages them to get out of the office twice each day for 15-minute breaks.
