France and Germany pressure Greece on commitments to euro zone

French and German leaders said Greece needs to meet its commitments as a member of the euro zone before it will receive any more aid. "Does Greece want to remain part of the euro zone or not?" German Chancellor Angela Merkel said. "That is the question the Greek people must now answer." "Our Greek friends must decide whether they want to continue the journey with us," said French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou frustrated European leaders by announcing that the country will hold a referendum on the rescue agreement.
