Google to charge websites for maps that draw heavy traffic

Google plans to begin charging for use of its Google Maps API service when a map receives more than 25,000 hits in a day. Google says the change, which will go into effect Jan. 1, "will only affect 0.35% of users." The fee is rumored to be $4 for every 1,000 views above the limit.
