NIST presses for easier-to-use EHR

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has issued draft guidance highlighting the need to evaluate the usability of EHRs. Making EHRs more user-friendly will spur hospitals and other providers to adopt the technology, apply for incentives under the Medicare and Medicaid programs and avoid penalties by 2015, the guidance said.
